Thomas A. Owens, 75 of Sedalia, Missouri passed away Monday, December 25, 2023 at E.W. Thompson Health in Sedalia.

Tom was born March 23, 1948 in Independence, Missouri, son of Robert Henry and Gladys Owens.  After graduating high school in Colorado, Tom was drafted in the Army. He served from January 1968 to December 1969, serving in the 173rd Airborne Brigade. His service history included 2 Bronze Stars, Army Commendation, Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal for over 300 combat assaults from a helicopter, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Air Force Accommodation Medal. He was united in marriage to Sharon Stewart on July 26, 1971. Tom began employment on Whiteman Air Force Base in 1973, working in housing, HVAC/Shop, and eventually as a boiler plant supervisor before retiring in 2003. His hobbies included fishing, camping, hunting, and spending time with his children.

Survivors include his wife: Sharon Owens; son: Timothy Owens; daughter: Tricia Owens-Wirtz. He is preceded in death by his son: Thomas E. Owens. Survivors also include his grandchildren: Amber; Jake; Jessica; Josh; Zachary; Erica; sister: Nina Lomely-Baker; and many great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Chaplain Raymond Wu officiating. Interment will follow at the Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Military honors provided by the United States Army Honor Guard, American Legion Post #131, and VFW Post #2513.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
