Warrensburg – Relda Zel Phelps, 86 died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, March 30th, 2025, at Warrensburg Manor Care Center.  She was born February 1939 in Sedalia, Missouri, the daughter of George and Janie (Thomas – Hardy) Markham.

As an only child, she was raised to do the work of a son; working the farm, hunting and fishing with her father.  Those of you that knew her probably noticed she dressed in jeans, t-shirt, and a ball cap.  Relda was not a typical woman of her time.  She was a rebel who paved her own path.  She had no issues with letting you know what she thought and was a force to be reckoned with.  She liked gardening, collecting rocks, coins, watched westerns, went bike riding, took long walks, and spent time with friends.  She lived in Warrensburg for many years where she attended Grover Park Baptist Church.  She made many beloved friends at church, in town, at her former residence Parkview Gardens, and at Warrensburg Manor.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved dog Levi, the best man ever in her life.    Surviving family members include sons Bob and Troy, daughter Deann, daughter in our hearts Debra, sisters in law Mary Ellen and Susan.  Son in law Nick.  Grandchildren Matthew, Michael, Anna, Andrew, Aaron.  Great Grandchildren Dorian and Cameron.  A service of remembrance will be held at Liberty Cemetery 657 MO-13,  Warrensburg at 11 am, Friday April 4th, 2025 with Pastor Dr. Jacob Conner offiating.   Those who wish to remember Relda in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the local animal shelter or the Grover Park Baptist Church instead of flowers.
