Oliver Oscar
Doerflinger
Mar 21, 1927 — Jun 28, 2021
Oliver Oscar Doerflinger of Warrensburg, MO, passed on to his new home in heaven at the Country Club Center on Monday, June 28, at the age of 94. He was born March 21, 1927, to Oscar Lewis and Lillian Louise Ahrens Doerflinger in Higginsville, MO. He was raised in Corder where his family business was farming and a coal mine. He and his best friend, Kenny Murry, joined the U.S. Navy at the ages of seventeen. Oliver served as a airplane mechanic stationed in Hawaii from 1944-1945.He returned home and into the arms of his love. He and Bonnie Jean Hughes were united as husband and wife on June 12, 1947 and after briefly living in Kansas City and working at Sears, they moved to Centerview, MO, and purchased a garage. To their home were born 4 children: Sharon Kaye and the late Larry Paris of New Bloomfield, Oliver Dale and Dorothy Gertz Doerflinger of Centerview, Dennis Lane and Patricia Hoppe Doerflinger of Warrensburg, and Gary Doerflinger of Warrensburg, and a beloved step daughter, Ladonna Wheeler of Nashville.
Oliver was a successful businessman, adding a new gas station, garage, and restaurant to the Blackwater bottoms. Later he started Oliver Oil Company delivering gasoline to service stations across the State and airplane fuel to airports. One of his greatest loves was flying. He was an avid pilot with his own plane and loved to take friends on flights and roll the airplane over for his and perhaps, their enjoyment. He also loved boating, water-skiing, and swimming at the Lake of the Ozarks. He was a food pusher, and had to feed his friends at every opportunity. When he retired he enjoyed farming and riding in his air conditioned tractor.
He loved country music, playing his guitar, and singing. He played music with many friends. He sang on karaoke night at the Country Club Center and was the star of the show. He was fun-loving and a bit ornery and always ready to pull a joke on his friends with that twinkle in his eye.
Just a couple week ago he made Jesus his Lord, and Monday he joined his Mom Lillian and his Pop Oscar, his sister "Sis" Margaret Angle, his Brother Lewis Doerflinger, his first love Bonnie Hughes Doerflinger, son-in-law Larry Paris, two nephews, Allen Doerflinger and Lewis Alex Doerflinger and many, many friends who had preceded him through the pearly gates.
He will be greatly missed by his loving family, his children, 11 grandchildren: 24 great grandchildren, a multitude of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and his best friend Jimmy, the dog.
