Obituary

Mildred Louise Beard, age 99 passed away October 13th, 2024 at the Country Club Rehab and Healthcare Center in Warrensburg, MO. She was born June 4, 1925 in Valley City, MO to Fred and Louise (Bode) Beard of Knob Noster, MO. She was married in 1943 to Raymond Curtis Riddle from Raleigh Durham, NC and to this union two daughters were born. Later on October 30th 1970 she was married to Reggie Lee Beard and after several years in Sweet Springs, MO they moved to Warrensburg, MO where they lived the rest of their lives.

In addition to being a homemaker, Mildred worked outside the home at the International Shoe Factory in Sweet Springs, MO, the Town and Country Shoe Factory in Warrensburg, MO, The Banquet Food Company in Marshall, MO and worked as a caretaker for several prominent people in the Warrensburg area. Perhaps the job she was proudest of was a volunteer position where she served for 20 years as the contact person from the LDS Church in Warrensburg, MO with the Community Meals On Wheels effort to feed the elderly. During this time she also delivered the Meals on Wheels.

After her husband's death in 2007 she remained in their home until April 2022 when she moved to the Country Club Rehab and Healthcare Center where she lived until her passing. She was so fortunate to be able to spend these last few years of her life living in the same room with her twin sister, Virgie Lee Fockler, who preceded her in death by 6 days.

Mildred was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints for 79 years. She attended and tithed regularly until her health no longer permitted these activities. Even then she stayed in contact with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through prayer. She served the Lord with great devotion.

Mildred is survived by her daughter Teresa Ann (Lyle) Horner who resides on the farm where She grew up near Knob Noster, MO; grandchildren Daniel (Marcia) Horner of Parkview MO, Lisa (Tracy) Cooper of Ozark MO, Carl Robert Pearson of Warrensburg MO, William Pearson of Singletown, CA, Danielle (Scott) Garland of Charlotte NC; 15 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband and parents; daughter Mary Lou (Riddle) Pfost; grandson Gregory Lyle Horner; brothers Noah Beard and Ervin Beard; sisters Dora Beard, Vera Beard, Roxie Ballew, Helen Cundiff, Lela Fockler, Zeta Boyle and her beloved twin Virgie Fockler.
