Michael R.
Chasar
Jul 18, 1954 — Feb 24, 2026
Warrensburg
Michael R. Chasar, 71, of Warrensburg, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville.
Michael was born July 18, 1954, at Camp Carson, Colorado, the son of John Chasar, Jr. and Gisela (Merz) Chasar. In 1958, at the age of four, he moved with his family to Warrensburg, Missouri. He graduated from Warrensburg High School in 1972, where he ran track and cross country, and later attended CMSU.
Mike was a welder and fabricator by trade and was known for his skill, precision, and strong work ethic. He was employed with Smith's Welding and later Stahl's until his retirement.
Beyond his profession, Mike had a very big heart and gave generously of his time. He volunteered at the local food pantry, thrift store, and homeless shelter. He was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and as a trustee, and was known as a steward of the church gardens and green spaces.
Mike had a quiet and steady presence and was happy to work without accolades, while always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Family was extraordinarily important to him, and he was always there for those he loved. He will be missed very, very much.
Survivors include his sister, Barbara Chasar of Warrensburg; his brother-in-law, Garry Gerossie of New Hampshire; his nephews, Jeffrey Gerossie and Garry Gerossie; and his grand-nephew, Dean Gerossie, all of New Hampshire. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Theresa U. Gerossie.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Tuesday, March 3rd at 4:00 p.m., immediately followed by a service at 5:00 p.m., both at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Warrensburg with Pastor Joel Kurz officiating. The service will be followed by a meal and refreshments. Interment at Sunset Hill Cemetery will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center at MU Health Care in Columbia, Missouri, in memory of Mike.
Arrangements are entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg. Online condolences may be left at www.williamsfuneralchapel.net.
