Martha "Faune"
Nelson
Sep 5, 1937 — Sep 21, 2020
Martha "Faune" Nelson, 83 of Warrensburg, Missouri passed away September 21, 2020 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Martha Faune Nelson passed in her sleep on September 21, 2020 after a long illness. Faune was the last surviving child of Ira Neal Fox and Margaret Frances (Lockhard) Fox. Older siblings that preceded her in death are: B. Bill Fox, Velva F. Tempel, Russell Fox, Edward Fox, Margaret J Lasseter, Verla D. Campbell and her beloved sister Wilma Pfeffer.
Faune's children are Robert N and Amy Nelson of Pleasant Hill, MO; Teri F. and Richard Thompson of Morrisville, MO; and Laurie J and Bobby Parker of Warrensburg. Grandchildren are Nathan N. Maddy and Jace Nelson; Bryce A. and Tyler E. Thompson. Our mother will be missed by her family of 19 nephews, nieces, and endless great nephews and nieces.
Faune married Earl B. Nelson in 1957 and were married for 32 years, he survives her. Faune was involved with her community, owning Parkers Café in Knob Noster and coached girls softball for Teri's teams from childhood through high school. Another well known position she held was the municipal judge for the city of Knob Noster from 1977 to April 1987. When the Johnson County Central Dispatch was started by Earl Barnhart in 1968, Faune worked there from 1968 to 1974. In 1987, she began driving bus 2 in Knob Noster. There wasn't a kid in Knob Noster that didn't know Faune. When women were given the opportunity to work a man's job, she worked for Carol Corbett and Larry Draper, building metal grain bins and was respected by her male coworkers. Faune's zest for life made her a lot of fun to be around, she had many friends. The most well known attribute she possessed was being a sports fan of the big three: football, basketball, and baseball. Her greatest love was her Dawson and the KC Chiefs; we only wish we could have enjoyed the Super Bowl of 2020. Our mother will be missed, but she will continue through those of us left behind sharing her wisdom with others.
