Marilyn Sue
Harding
Jun 12, 1944 — Sep 28, 2023
Marilyn Sue Harding, 79 of Warrensburg, Missouri passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the Arbors at Harmony Gardens in Warrensburg.
She was born June 12, 1944, to Beulah Severns and Dr. Alvin Lowe. The oldest of six children, she took her duties as older sister very seriously. Marilyn graduated from Sedalia High School in 1962 and enjoyed attending the annual reunions to reminisce with her friends. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian faith, being baptized in 1955 and was a longtime member at the Warrensburg Presbyterian Church.
The ultimate quilter and seamstress, she enjoyed trying new patterns and getting creative with her quilting blocks. She never had a quilt idea she couldn't conquer.
She was a fierce advocate for healthcare for the elderly, which she championed through her many years as a hospice nurse. She once said, "it was a great honor to be able to help people pass away in comfort and with dignity." She helped establish Johnson County Hospice and was a dedicated hospice nurse until a vision impairment required her to retire. She would not sit idly during retirement becoming a member of Blind of Central Missouri and spending time raising awareness about vision impairment, accessibility, and advocating for vision resources in rural communities.
She is preceded in death by her previous husband David E. Thomas, Mother Beulah Davis, Step-Father Ralph "Paco" Davis, and her Father Dr. Alvin Lowe.
She is survived by her husband John Harding, Daughters Amanda (Ed) Underwood and Jennifer (Jamie) York, Grandchildren Erin Underwood, Matthew (Bobbie) Underwood, and Amy Underwood, Great-Grandsons Gavin, Jonah, Jaxon, and Deacon Underwood, Siblings Dan Lowe, Kathryn Lowe, Martha Lowe, Michael (Nancy) Lowe, Maggie Lowe, Joe (Brenda) Davis, and Mary Anne (Elvan) Ford, and many Nieces, Nephews, cousins, and friends.
Memorial Services are scheduled for 2:00pm Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Pastor Heather Jepsen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Blind of Central Missouri in care of the funeral home.
