p>Lee Wayne Pope, 79 of Chilhowee, Missouri passed away Monday, May 8, 2023 at his home.  Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday,  May 12th at the Chilhowee Baptist Church, with interment to follow at the Chilhowee Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.  Arrangements entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.

Lee was born May 19, 1943 in Lockney, Texas the son of Robert Lee Pope and Margie (Smith) Pope. At the age of 16, he moved with his family from Texas to Bynumville, Missouri where he would graduate from high school. He had resided near Chilhowee since 1976. Lee was united in marriage to Deloris Darlene Miller on April 20, 1991 in Chilhowee. He was a salesman with Kent Feed Company for many years. After retirement, Lee worked Tuesdays at Kingsville Livestock Auction for many years. Lee loved spending time with his grandkids and cheering them on at their activities.   He enjoyed Wednesday night gatherings playing guitar and singing with friends, fish fries and grilling.   He also enjoyed watching Bull Riding. He is most famous in Chilhowee for announcing at the Chilhowee Fair Parade. Lee enjoyed raising cattle, fishing, especially for Walleye in Canada, hunting and trail rides with his wife Deloris on their beloved horses, Dusty and Rich.

Survivors include his loving wife, Deloris; four children: Tracy Smith (Terry) of Sturgeon, MO; Todd Pope (Michelle) of Waukesha, WI; Janet Bohannan (Eddie) of Chilhowee, MO and Randy Shields of Aurora, MO; a sister: Elva Dee Duncan-Hulett (William) of Garland, TX; 13 grandchildren: Tara Dettmer (Ryan) of Centerview, MO; Tiffany Kuntemeier (Drew) of St. Peters, MO; Derek Thornley (Taryn) of Chilhowee, MO; Curtis Shields (Kaitlyn) of Louisville, KY; Blake Shields (Cassie) of Adrian, MO; Troy Rush (Gabby) of Savannah, GA; Corey Smith (Jami) of Mexico, MO; Casey Lecco (Bobby) of Sturgeon, MO; Nick Smith (Ashleena) of Fulton, MO; Kelsey Roop (Rocky) of Sturgeon, MO; Holly Maddox (Clint) of Columbia, MO; Carson Pope (Bayli) of Wisconsin and Bryson Pope of Waukesha, WI; 21 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son: Troy Wayne Pope and sister: Joyce Bartholomew.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 12 ^th at the Chilhowee Baptist Church with Pastors Todd Pope and Justin Powell co-officiating. Interment will follow at the Chilhowee Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Chilhowee Cemetery Association in care of the funeral home.
