Kevin Eugene Gainey, 54 Lee's Summit, Missouri passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, November 3, 2020 in Lee's Summit.

Kevin was born June 14, 1966 in Independence, Missouri, the son of Thomas Gainey and Janice Jane (Jackson).  He attended Lee's Summit High School and graduated from Champagne – Urbana High School in Illinois.  Shortly thereafter, he attended Longview College in Lee's Summit where he earned an Associate's Degree.  Next, Kevin served in the United States Army.  Following military service, he resided at Pleasant Hill and was employed at the Pleasant Hill Veneer Plant.  Later he made his home at Lake Latowana, Kansas City and Lee's Summit.  His passion was commercial painting.  Kevin was a man to always have a smile on his face and he enjoyed life.

Survivors include his four children: Nicholaus Gainey of Lee's Summit, MO; Amber Peterson of Lee's Summit, MO; Taylor Sikkenga of Nebraska; and Julian Stone of Independence, MO; sister: Kelley Poulos (Steve) of Illinois and brother: Mark Stevens of Arizona.  He was preceded in death by his parents and maternal grandmother: Norma Jeane Jackson.

There will be a celebration of life gathering 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 13th at the Lee's Summit VFW, to be hosted by Kevin's son, Nicholaus and Nick's mom, Wendy Reed.
