James C. Summitt, 70 of Warrensburg, Missouri passed away Monday, November 4, 2019 at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

Jim was born August 6, 1949 in Warrensburg, the son of David and Reecie (Johnson) Summitt.  He attended Warrensburg High School.  He married Janet Denise Holt on March 12, 1983 in Warrensburg.  Jim worked as a porter for Jerry Talley Motors and next, George Roush Motors.  Later, he worked at CMSU for several years.  Jim eventually worked for Swisher Mowers, retiring after thirteen years of service.  More recently, he did odds and ends for local contractors and worked in scrap metal recycling.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed collecting things, such as hats and Native American memorabilia.

Survivors include his wife: Janet; two daughters: Kimberly Shumate (Terry) of Warrensburg, MO and Tifany Allen (Julius) of Tulsa, OK; four sons: James Summitt (Marva) of Centerview, MO; Michael Summitt of Warrensburg, MO; Mark Summitt (Dianna) of Centerview, MO and Daniel Summitt (Amanda) of Warrensburg, Missouri; two brothers: Jack Summitt of Warrensburg, MO and Frank Summitt of Warrensburg, MO; fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Ludy Mae Barton and three brothers: John, Dan and Bob Summitt.

Memorial Services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 8 ^th at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Pastor Donnie Holt, brother-in-law officiating.

The family will receive friends, one hour prior to service, Friday at the funeral home.
