Obituary

Ila Jean (Wood) Hill, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away August 18, 2024 at the age of 65. She passed away in her home in Chilhowee, Missouri.

Ila was born on January 23rd, 1959 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Elmer Clayton Wood and Ila Fern (Bloss) Wood. Ila moved to Chilhowee with her parents and brother in 1974.  She entered Chilhowee High School her Sophomore year. This is where she met and fell in love with her husband of 47 years, David Hill.  They graduated high school in May of 1977 and were married July 23, 1977.

They built a life together and were blessed with two children, April (Clint) Siegfried of Leeton and Shane (Krystle) Hill of Chilhowee.

Ila had a fierce love for her husband and kids but nothing compared to her love for her grandchildren. Her grandchildren, Cain (Natalie) Casey, Makenna (Mason) Siegfried, Ally Siegfried, all of Warrensburg, and Ila Joanne Siegfried of Leeton will eternally feel the loss of their biggest fan that was their grandma.

Ila spent her life supporting her husband and children as a homemaker. Ila had part time jobs throughout the years. She enjoyed working at Sharon's Café and Watson's Grocery in Chilhowee.  Her favorite job was working in the Budweiser tent at the state fair with her best friend, Barbara.

In addition to her love of her family, she was known best for her love of animals.  Ila was never without treasured pet.  Ila's loved working with the different farm animals the Hill's had over the years. But when it came down to cleaning the chickens, she left that to her mother-in-law.

Ila love to cameo paint. Many friends and family have quilts hand painted by Ila.  Her last big painting project was for each of her grandchildren. They each received their quilts for Christmas.

Ila love music and dancing. She could often be found dancing while cleaning or during her children's birthday parties. She loved going dancing with her husband and friends on weekends and during the Chilhowee fair.

In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, Ila is survived by her brother, Everett (Mara) Wood, mother-in-law, Wilma Hill, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Darrell (Cindy) Hill, Mike (Kathy) Hill, Ken (Debbie) Hill, Robin (Jimmie) Austin, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ila Fern Wood, grandparents, Floyd and Ila Mae Bloss, father-in-law: Allen Hill, nephew, Jason Hill, and great nephew, Collin Swope.
