Gregory Lathrop Lanning, 68 of Leeton, Missouri passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

Greg was born November 30, 1956 at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri.  As a child, he resided in Spain from 1962 to 1965.  He graduated from Leeton High School. Greg served in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1979. Following his discharge from active duty, he was employed at Stahl's Specialty in Warrensburg and later, Harmons.  More recently he became an electrical contractor and was employed for a time at All Pro in Warrensburg.  In 1994, he returned to the family farm near Leeton.  Being a volunteer fire fighter meant a great deal to Greg. He was a member of the local Masons for a time as well as the Elks Lodge.  He loved riding his Harley for days at a time, from sun-up to sun-down, rain or shine.

Survivors include his son: Joel Lanning, and wife, Ezgi of Alexandria, VA; sister: Valerie Vaughn and husband, Russell of Blue Springs, MO; dear friend, Renia Gillroy of Holden, MO and his two fur babies, Amtrack and Gretchen.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services: will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 29th at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Pastor Tim Whitmore officiating.

The family will receive friends, one hour prior to service, Tuesday at Williams.

There will be a private interment at Mineral Creek Cemetery at Leeton at a later date

Memorial Contributions may be left to the Old Drum Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
