Esther Mae
Lowry
Jan 18, 1930 — Apr 14, 2022
Warrensburg
Esther Mae (Renfro) Lowry, age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 14, 2022.
Esther was born southeast of Warrensburg, Missouri in the home of her grandparents on what locals know as Bristle Ridge. Her parents were Edward Earl and Elsie (Whitman) Renfro. She met her husband, Daniel William (D.W.) Lowry while attending Leeton High School. Esther graduated from Leeton High School. D.W. and Esther were married on March 21, 1948, and he preceded her in death on June 11, 2017.
To her family, Esther was the fulfillment of the words "woman of faith" and hard worker. As a member of Leeton Christian Church, she was not one content with being idle, but rather taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes for the congregation's youth for many years. She was a "farmers" wife who not only kept a home filled with love, but was outside working side-by-side with D.W. Whether the task was bailing hay, picking field corn by hand, or milking the cows, Esther was supporting her family by endeavoring to meet their physical and emotional needs. Her joys included her very large garden that was planted each year to provide winter food for her family as well as her flower gardens. One of her greatest joys was receiving the Spring garden seed catalog. For several years (after her children were all in school), she worked at the Warrensburg hospital as one of the office workers fulfilling duties such as admittance and record keeping. She was an active member of the Good Neighbors Extension Club as well as a leader for several years of the Good Neighbors 4-H Club. To her children and many grandchildren, Esther's life was the fulfillment of Proverbs 31:10: "An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels".
Esther is survived by her four children: Daniel G. Lowry and wife, Carol, of Warrensburg; Diana K. Fleming and husband, L. David, of Leeton: Denise A. Eaden and husband, Alan, of Warrensburg; and Timothy B. Lowry and wife, Heidi, of Warrensburg. She was also blessed with 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Her beloved sister, Rachael Allen, lives in Raytown.
Family members that preceded Esther in death were her husband and parents. Her brother, Sorren Gerald, gave the greatest sacrifice for our nation on the island of Iwo Jima during World War II. She was also preceded by one grandchild, Tiffany Renee Fleming.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22 nd at Leeton Christian Church, with Dr. Daniel G. Lowry officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg.
The family will receive friends, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial gifts be made to Show-Me Christian Youth Home or Leeton Christian Church.
Arrangements entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.
