Eleanor April (Gorke) Peck passed away peacefully in Warrensburg, MO, on March 26, 2021, at the age of 93.

Eleanor was born on April 8, 1927, in Staten Island, NY, to Manfred Gorke and Mildred Wrightson.  She was an athletic child, excelling in swimming and basketball.  During high school, she served as a lifeguard at a summer camp.

Eleanor enrolled in the University of Maryland and graduated with a degree in nursing. She would utilize her training as a surgical nurse and ended her career as a private nurse for Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

After meeting and falling in love with a handsome drummer from a local band in Connecticut, she married Marvin Peck on October 7, 1950.

While living in Old Greenwich, CT, Eleanor and Marvin welcomed five sons: David (1951), Donald (1952), Lawrence (1953), Gary (1955) and Jeffrey (1957).

One of Eleanor's favorite pastimes was skiing. She introduced the sport to her sons and they'd spend countless weekends together skiing. During this time, they built a log cabin together in Vermont for extended weekend family ski trips.

The family moved to Andover, MA, in 1968.  After Marvin's passing in 2000, Eleanor relocated in Olathe, KS, in 2001, where she resided until her passing.

Eleanor enjoyed hooking rugs and attended the first class of the Maryland Shores Rug School and returned annually for 25 years to hook with close friends in Ocean City, MD. Her family is the beneficiary of many beautiful, homemade rugs.

She loved to cook for her family and passed down her culinary skills to her sons. Eleanor had a fascination with turtles and lighthouses and enjoyed collecting memorabilia related to both.  She loved playing Mahjong, dining out and going to local theater productions with her friends.  Eleanor was an avid reader and loved watching football and tennis.

Eleanor is survived by her five sons: David (Kathy) Peck, Donald (Michelle) Peck, Larry (Cindy) Peck, Gary Peck, and Jeff (Christen) Peck; her 13 grandchildren; her 25 great-grandchildren and her brother, Manfred "Toto" (Nancy) Gorke.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Peck, parents Manfred Gorke and Mildred Wrightson, and her daughter-in-law Valerie (Donald) Peck.

Eleanor will be buried in Old Greenwich, CT with a memorial service determined at a later date.
