David Hugh Smith, 69 of Odessa, Missouri; formerly of Warrensburg passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

David was born September 25, 1949 at Henderson, Kentucky, son of Hugh Barker Smith and Mary Louis (Echols) Smith.  He graduated from Holy Name High School at Henderson.  Following graduation, he served twelve years in the United States Air Force.  David married Lorene Cusic on September 27, 1968 at Henderson.  The couple made their home in Warrensburg, where he received his BS from CMSU.  David eventually retired and moved to Odessa.  He especially enjoyed spending time with family.

Survivors include three daughters: Julie (Steve) Carter of Warrensburg, MO; Carol Smith and companion, Matthew Cox of Independence, MO and Susan Smith and companion, Brian Lee of Independence, MO;  Three sisters: Carolyn Sue Gish, Mary Ruth Evans and Brenda Gail Welsh, all of Henderson, KY; four grandchildren: Zackary Carter and fiancée, Kara Williams of Warrensburg, MO; Elizabeth Carter of Warrensburg, MO; David Ezekiel Smith of Kansas City, MO and Kylie Ehrsam of Independence, MO; two great grandchildren: Evelyn Wren Carter and Riley Randall Carter; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Richard Smith and three sisters: Isobel Hawkins, Marcella Peay and Lois Evans.

Following cremation, private services will be scheduled at a later date.

There will be a private interment at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg.
