Obituary

Connie Joyce (Hobbs) Wright, 84, of Holden, MO, entered the gates of heaven on the morning of April 3, 2025.

She was born January 16, 1941, in Curryville, MO, the second of four daughters, to Roscoe W. Hobbs and Charlotte (Smith) Hobbs. She grew up in this rural area of Missouri before graduating from Vandalia High School in 1958.

On June 27, 1958, Connie was united in marriage to Kester D. Wright.  The couple moved to Holden, MO, in the Spring of 1962.  Together, they raised their four children, enjoying weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks. They were blessed with numerous lifelong friends from the Holden/Kingsville area. Connie and Kester found great joy in time spent with their children and grandchildren.

Connie worked at Holden Manufacturing until its closing in 1993.  She then began a 17-year employment at Wal-Mart in Warrensburg, MO, before retiring in 2010.  Connie treasured the countless friendships gained during the years she worked at Holden Manufacturing and Wal-Mart.

Connie was one of the original founding members of New Hope Baptist Church in Holden. Her New Hope church family was such a big part of her life. She treasured the blessings brought by the many little ones she cared for through her years of serving in the church nursery. Connie will be remembered as a devoted follower of Christ whose faith was lived out daily in her vocation as a steadfast and devoted prayer warrior.

Connie was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed creating many beautiful crochet and cross-stitch projects. Prior to her retirement, Connie became an avid quilter and blessed each of her eight grandchildren with one of her beautiful quilts.  One of the last quilts she completed was for her first great-grandchild.

Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Kester Wright; her son, Martin Wright; her parents; and two sisters, Willa Gene Senger (Richard) and Judy Mayberry (Ernie).

Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Cora Bethard (Dave) of Apache Junction, AZ;   her sons, Christopher Wright, of Garden City, MO, and Steven Wright (Lori) of Lee's Summit, MO; one daughter, Kathy Delatte (Joe) of Gonzales, LA; eight grandchildren: Christopher Delatte (Samantha) of Prairieville, LA with great-grandchildren Gavin, Madeline, Olivia and Abigail; Jonathan Delatte (Adele) with great-grandchildren, Samuel, Henry and Eli; Autumn Wright; Nicole Delatte with great-grandson, Elliot; Chase Wright; Kelsey Wright; Katie Scott (Emily); and Lauren Wright; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Connie's family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the staff of Holden Manor; the nurses and care techs with Ascend Hospice; Beth Mangiaracina; and Alicia McKay for their dedication and commitment in caring for Connie.

A celebration of Connie's life will take place at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 7, 2025, at William's Funeral Chapel in Holden. Interment will follow at Holden Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 till 11:00 AM, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
