Obituary

Anna M. (White) Cleveland, 91, formerly of Warrensburg, MO passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 in Round Rock, TX.

She was born August 24, 1927 in Conde, SD the fourth of six children of Joseph Robert White and Anna Louise (Ulbick) White. Anna was raised in Conde and graduated from Conde High School in 1945.

She was united in marriage to Wayne L. Cleveland on March 28, 1951 in Conde, SD. To this union six children were born.  Wayne and Anna were married for 60 years prior to Wayne's passing on April 16, 2011.

In high school Anna was active in cheerleading and played the trumpet in the band. For a brief time Anna played in a dance band. When asked why she quit she stated "I wanted to dance!" Anna and Wayne were exceptional dancers and people would often sit down to watch them.

After marriage Anna and Wayne moved to Springfield, OR in 1951 where Wayne continued his education. They returned to Conde in 1955 where they owned and operated Cleveland U-Save grocery store and Wayne served as the Conde superintendent of schools. In 1960 they moved to Vermillion, S.D. where Wayne continued his education and taught at the University of S.D. The summer of 1963 brought them to Warrensburg, MO where Wayne took a teaching position at Central Missouri State College (UCM). In September 2015 Anna moved to Texas to reside in a care facility.

While in Warrensburg Anna was active in the University Faculty Wives, women's bowling league, and golfing. She was an avid bridge player in women's bridge and couple's bridge clubs.

Anna worked for the university textbook department at the beginning and end of each semester. Later she worked for Dr. Jones' and Dr. Maize's orthodontic practices in Warrensburg.

Family was the most important "job" to her as a wife, mother, grandmother, and Gigi (the name she chose as a great grandmother). She was an active member of the PTA and never missed a child or grandchild's activity. Anna always opened her heart and home to friends and families and others. Anna was modest, compassionate, insightful, and always put others before herself. She had a quick wit even to her final days. Anna was a great cook and she was known for her chocolate chip cookies and chocolate sheet cake. Her cookies have been shared by many and the last chocolate sheet cake she made for the Sacred Heart Octoberfest never made it out of the kitchen.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne L. Cleveland, parents, and siblings Josephine White, Sue Funk, Robert White, Linda (White) Brooks, and Jack Ragels, and daughter-in-law Shirley (Doehla) Cleveland.

Anna is survived by her children Gregory Cleveland, Warrensburg; Cynthia Cleveland, Georgetown, TX; Lisa (Rick) Swisher, Warrensburg; Camille (Michael) Murphy, Pflugerville, TX; Jonathan Cleveland (Michael Delia), Marshfield, MA; and Janelle (John) Sellman, Warrensburg; grandchildren Christopher (Laura) Murphy; Stephanie (Ray) Swisher Kiser; Doug Swisher; Ashley (Zac) Cleveland Howard; Ross (Taylor) Cleveland; Hanna (Nathan) Sellman Derritt; Lauren (Alex) Sellman Gutierrez; Joshua Sellman;  Leanne Sellman (Brittany ) Cripps and great grandchildren Addison Long, Mackenzie and Thia Kiser;  Madelyn, Aaliyah, Olivia and KeyShawn Derritt;  Billy, Adam, and Adan Gutierrez; Harper, Weston, and Ellisyn Howard; Owen and Gracelyn Murphy
