Life Legacy


Betty J. Welch, 76 of Holden, Missouri passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Holden Manor Care Center.


Betty Jean Haydon was born May 3, 1933 in Windsor, Missouri, daughter of Thomas and Gladys B. (Howell) Haydon. She moved with her family to Warrensburg in 1946. She was united in marriage to Lawrence H. Welch on June 14, 1951 in Warrensburg, and the couple moved to the Holden area that same year. Betty was a homemaker and helped Lawrence on their farm. She was a member of the Holden First Baptist Church. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband at their cabin in the Ozarks.


Survivors include her son, Larry Welch of Kingsville; three sisters: Margie Harp and her husband, Bud of Nemo, Missouri; Charlene Werneke of Knob Noster; and Joyce Wolfe and her husband, Gary of Eldon, Missouri; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Ann Quick of Independence. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence on April 14, 1996; both parents; her stepfather, Lyle Quick; a brother, Charles Quick and two sisters: Irene Maxwell and Dorothy Smith.


There will be a private graveside service at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, located north of Kingsville. There will be no visitation.


Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden is in charge of the arrangements.
