Life Legacy

Elizabeth L. Betty Lyle, 67 of Warrensburg, Missouri, formerly of Sedalia passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the Country Club Care Center in Warrensburg.

Elizabeth Louise Martin was born March 21, 1942 in Sedalia, Missouri the daughter of Jesse O. and Corinne M. Schmidt Martin. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Sedalia. Betty was united in marriage to John Jay Lyle on November 9, 1963 in Sedalia, where the couple made their home briefly before moving to Warrensburg. She worked for United Telephone in Sedalia for a time. Later, she was employed with the First Community Bank in Knob Noster. More recently, Betty worked for Citizens Bank and UMB Bank, both in Warrensburg. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sedalia and Warrensburg and also the Red Hat Ladies. She especially loved watching her husband and sons race cars.

Survivors include her husband, Jay of the home; two sons, Chad Lyle of Lone Jack and Clint Lyle of Raymore; two grandchildren, Taylor Grace Lyle and Morgan Shea Lyle; a sister, Patty Sudduth of Kansas City; a brother, Jesse Martin and his wife, Virginia of Sedalia and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Gladys Voss and a brother, Dorsey Martin.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warrensburg. Interment will follow in the Knob Noster Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.
